Friday Fragments
Once again another week is winding down, which means that it’s Fragment time.
I had the Ts yesterday. Mama has been having a little trouble with what she thought was an irritated eye … went to the eye doctor and turns out she’s got an eye infection. I got to watch the littles while she went to the doctor. We stopped at the Dairy Queen on the way home … I didn’t know that they played Christian music there! What a blessing that was. Although I don’t think everyone there was paying attention to the message of the music … there were a couple of older women with a young boy a few tables over. At one point, we heard one of the women bark out a very harsh “shut up” to the boy … it made me sad.
I did get a little quilting done after the Ts went back home. I’m on the last block, and then I’ll quilt the outer border … I’m doing just a straight row of stitching on the border, so it shouldn’t take too awfully long. Then it will be time to bind it and start quilting the log cabin quilt.
Tomorrow we’ll go back to my dad’s to check on him and have a nice visit. He’s got a couple of minor repairs that we hope to help him with. Neither DH nor I are very handy with repairs, so we’ll see how that goes. Ought to be interesting. ha!
We had to water our ornamental cherry tree last night … it was really drooping. It’s been so dry and unseasonably warm (even hot) here that everything’s suffering. The leaves on our dogwood are scorched. Our grass is already brown and crispy in places … and it’s only early June! We sure could use some rain.
My sister, her S.O. and her grandson will be coming down for a visit next week. I'm not sure right now just what their plans are ... the only thing I know for sure is that they’ll be here on Thursday because we have tickets to the Cardinals game that evening.
Fed Ex and UPS are both scheduled to make deliveries here today. I just love getting packages delivered. It’s like Christmas in June!

I love getting deliveries too! Hope you get just what you wanted!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool that the Dairy Queen was playing Christian music. I love it when we go in places and hear that kind of music. I guess that's part of why I like Hobby Lobby and Chick Fil A
Its always a good day in my house when I know a package is coming. I have been waiting patiently for Ashley's graduation pictures to get here. I HOPE today.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week!
When we were visiting my daughter in New Mexico I noticed that they played Christian music everywhere it seemed...in the stores, restaurants, etc. My daughter said they even play it in the doc's office. How wonderful that would be. I can't imagine that in So. Calif. Packages in the mail are always exciting! Enjoy your week-end! HUGS
ReplyDeleteThe only place I know of around here that plays Christian music is "Hobby Lobby".
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have a lot going on. Enjoy your weekend :)
Hope the little one feels better soon!

ReplyDeleteI had to repost, after I hit publish I noticed a lot of typos. I should have re read my comment. So let's try again. We have had rain EVERY DAY SINCE LAST SATURDAY and I would love to send you some.... I could use some heat and sun. I hope your little one gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteThat is sad that people talk to their children that way. And then they wonder why their children are disrespectful when they become older?
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend and enjoy your sisters visit.
I tell you that if you were next door, you'd need to come kick me to get me started on that baby quilt. Maybe this weekend, maybe not. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteNoreen
Ir breaks my heart too when I hear that kind of stuff when I am out. Have a good weekend. sandie
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a nice day, well except for those ladies. Saying Shut-up has always been a bad word in our house. I just hate to hear it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely weekend.
Ouch, an eye infection, not fun!
ReplyDeleteOh, I understand dealing with folks that sort of "fly by the seat of their pants." Drives me bonkers, family or friend.
Happy weekend!
My BIL spent his entire career in UPS, so we thank you for supporting them! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAm I correct in thinking that ornamental cherry trees have branches that hang down sorta like weeping willows? If so - - - how do you KNOW when they droop?
Just wonderin'
That is neat about the music in DQ; I wonder if it was that particular one or something at all others. Ick on the eye infection but glad your daughter went in to get it checked out. hope the weekend is a great one!
ReplyDeletebetty
...are they gonna be 'good' packages? Filled with fun?
ReplyDeleteThis reads like you had a busy week. But treated yourself and the "T's" with a Dairy Queen. Make mine a hot fudge banana split please!!!
By the way, I love how you have a 'break' line between each individual fragment.
A CLEAN BREAK is my post today.
Dairy Queen is the best!!! Have fun when your sister visits.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do love when my doorbell rings with deliveries. Hope your weekend is perfect.
