Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

My sister and her crew left.  They arrived Tuesday afternoon and left this morning.  We had a nice visit, but by the same token it is kind of nice to be able to settle back into our normal routine.  We visited the City Museum and the Magic House and took in a Cardinals game (while my sister and her S.O. are Cardinals fans, they do follow the White Sox since they live in the Chicago area).

Next week looks to be pretty busy, too … my dad has a doctor’s appointment to follow up on his cataract surgery, I have a dental appointment, I’ll be watching some little ones Tuesday morning during the Mom’s Group meeting at church, and I’ll be in the toddler nursery during VBS every evening.

There’s been a robin chirping right outside our front door for several days now … such a pleasant sound.  Hearing that makes me think of spring, even though the thermometer is telling me that spring is a distant memory.

Speaking of the thermometer, summer weather is here with a vengeance … the 90+ temperatures are back.  I guess I should be thankful that the humidity isn’t as high as it normally is when we have 90+ temperatures in July and August.

And speaking of summer weather, we had a near crisis today.  There was no display on our thermostat … DH was just about to make a phone call to the HVAC people because it’s going to be in the upper 90’s today … not the day we’d want a non-functioning thermostat!  Thankfully I thought to check to see if it might not just be a case of dead batteries … whew!  What a relief to hear the air conditioner run.

As we left the stadium last night, T#2 asked me if I had the best time ever (she knows I’m a big Cardinals fan).  I told her that I did … that any time that I was with them is the best time ever for me.  Red heart

  1. Happy Friday to you! As always, you amaze me with how much you do each week. Glad the Cardinals are playing good because the Rockies are on a loosing streak. I've been cleaning all morning and quite bushed but still have to go to the market and cook for our guests.
    Have a delightful weekend.
    Hugs, Noreen

  2. sounds like you had a wonderful week! there's just so much to do in the summertime, seems like sewing gets pushed aside for a bit. nothing wrong with that at all. enjoy those grandbabies!

  3. Sounds like you had a great week! Nice that your life is getting back to normal again and EXTRA nice that your A/C is working! Have a great weekend! ~Jeanne

  4. What a sweet question from T#2! Glad you had a nice visit with sister. Also glad it was just the battery on the thermostat. Have a nice weekend. Hugs, Debby

  5. I'm glad you had a fun week with your family and glad you have some quiet time now too. Next week sounds like a very busy week for you. Have fun!

  6. Glad you enjoyed your visit with your sister, but I do know the feeling of enjoying getting back to your regular routine. And nothing scarier than a possible broken air conditioner with HOT glad yours was just what the grands say huh? ENJOY your week-end!

  7. Aw, family memories are the best :) Glad you had a nice time.

Thanks for linking up. Have a great, cool weekend! :)

  8. How sweet what T#2 asked you and your answer :) Glad you had a good visit with your sister/family! You rock for being in the nursery every night during VBS - a labor of love indeed!

  9. glad it was just the batteries! What a disaster! :)

  10. Oh ya....MUST have air conditioning these days. I just don't know how people long ago made do without. I'm spoiled. As for the Cardinals' fun. And LOVED your very last fragment. That was sweet.

  11. So glad I got to get caught up with you. It sounds like you had a nice week, and next week might be busy and hot.
It is hot here today too. I do think spring is going to really be a distant memory.
    Have a lovely weekend.

  12. I think the Lord made us to enjoy our regular routine. It's always fun to go and fun to have company, but nothing like doing our daily stuff. :o)

Sound like a fun time! Blessings for this day!

I am SO glad you stopped by! No proving that you're a robot here ... I want to hear what you have to say! ;-)
