It’s Friday … and time for fragments … which is about all my poor mind can muster after the busy week here at Chez Nana.
Tonight is the last night of VBS. Hopefully the people who agreed to work in the nursery will all show up tonight. Last night we had 3 babies and 3 toddlers … and none of the other workers showed up. Thankfully they drafted a couple of workers, and the evening went well.
We had someone here this morning to give us an estimate on refinishing our hardwood floors. Yes, the floors are only 4 years old and yes, they’re oak … but they sure couldn’t stand up to 2 large dogs. I’d been dreaming of getting to the beach next month (just cannot wait until September for some beach time) … instead we’ll refinish the floors.
DH gets a tooth pulled this afternoon. He had a root canal several years back, but they couldn’t locate one of the roots. It didn’t seem to bother him until last month when the dentist found an abscess during his routine check up … he wasn’t having any symptoms from the abscess. Strange.
DD is having a home party tomorrow afternoon, and since DSIL is working, that means I’ll get some T-time!
Our neighbors called us this morning to come over and help ourselves to some fresh veggies out of their garden. We got some zucchini, onions, and green beans. Add that to the homegrown sweet corn DH picked up at the Farmers’ Market on Wednesday and I think we’re going to have a mighty fine meal this evening!
DD & her family gave DH a puzzle for Father’s Day … a baseball-themed puzzle for the baseball lover.
fresh veggies sound yummy! i'm supposed to stop at my great-uncle's and pick up some zuccini tonight after work.
ReplyDeleteFresh veggies sound very good! I love jigsaw puzzles and that looks like a very good, colorful one!
ReplyDeleteHope you get a little rest this weekend!
WOW what great neighbors you have and sounds like you will everything you need for a great meal. Have fun with the T's.
ReplyDeletewhat nice neighbors you have!!
ReplyDeleteNow that is one tough looking puzzle...
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday to you! Love hearing about all the fresh veges you got. I'm surprised you need your hardwood floors refinished after just four years. We had manufactured floors in Ca. and the only thing I loved about them was how withstood the dogs. Here I love my hardwood floors, in fact, wish I had them upstairs too and not carpet.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend.
Hugs, Noreen
It sounds great and so does all of that produce. It would be hard to choose refinishing floors or the beach. :)
ReplyDeleteI never thought about what dogs would do to hardwood floors.
I have tile so It never crossed my mind.
Have a fun weekend. After I take my son to piano lessons and get back I can start my weekend. :) Have a great day today too.
fresh and free veggies - great combo. I might select the beach over redone floors but not knowing what beach and what floor what do I know.
ReplyDeleteI hope hubby is okay. Nice neighbors to let you in their garden. We start VBS next week. Good luck on the floors!

VBS! I loved it as a child. I never liked helping out with VBS as an adult. I am glad there are people who can love it, or at least like it.
ReplyDeleteWowza! That's one massive puzzle! We love to do puzzles here- of course, a lot of the pieces in up in the vacuum cleaner. LOL Fresh veggies- there's nothing better! One of the absolute BEST things about summer!
ReplyDeletewe need new hardwoods...and carpeting in the den
ReplyDeletelove some fresh veggies; enjoy!
Well, I hope DH was able to enjoy that delicious sounding dinner with his tooth extraction. Mine is still so fresh on my mind from April. It was just horrible but I did have a whole bunch of other issues along with it.
ReplyDeleteRefinished floors may not be near as much fun as the beach but I'm sure they will be lovely when it is through.
Happy weekend!
Yum! Fresh veggies from the garden. I can't wait until ours are ready. Can't believe you're ahead of us in Illinois. It's going to be a while yet before we have stuff to pick. :(
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool looking puzzle!! I don't know why people commit to help with something and don't show up; that always irks me.....thank you for your faithful service though! Yum on the zucchini; hubby will sauter it with mushrooms, so very delicious!

I love working on puzzles and haven't done one in years. The last one I did was of my favorite Bev Doolittle art piece, the one with all the hidden Native American Faces in it....and I framed it. Why? 'Cause it's the one I worked on while I was recouping from my heart surgery years ago. Just a fragment of memory now.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great puzzle. I wish I had a neighbor who was growing veggies!!
ReplyDeleteHardwood floors or the beach.... I'd go for a beach towel that can be recycled as a rug! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your hubby's puzzle! I like puzzles and I'm a lifelong baseball nut. NICE puzzle!
