Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

I probably say it every week, but seriously - where did the week go?  I can NOT believe that it’s Friday already!  Surprised smile

The most important news is that I’ve finished the log cabin quilt!  I had to stay up until waaaay past my bedtime Winking smile to finish it, but I got it done.  It took longer than I had anticipated because as I was stitching down the last several inches of binding, I discovered a couple of the “logs” that I’d failed to quilt.  So, when I finished up the binding, I had to quilt those last couple of “logs”.  I threw the quilt into the washer before going to bed so I could put it in the dryer first thing this morning … I love the softness and crinkly look of a washed/dried quilt.  I had hoped to be able to get a picture taken outdoors, in natural light … but DH is gone for the day, so I had to go with the next best thing (the colors are a little washed out).  I’ll try for an outdoors shot tomorrow, but in the meantime:Log Cabin Quilt 004

We got more rain yesterday!  8/10 of an inch!  Our front yard is actually greening up and may need to be mowed soon.  Our back yard, however, is a whole ‘nother story.  Sad smile   The rains brought in cooler temperatures, too.

Like I mentioned earlier, DH is gone for the day.  I think I’ll spend my day in the sewing room … I’ve got fabric to cut for my wall quilt and NCIS to watch.

  4. I think the colors are beautiful! They don't look washed out at all to me. And the pattern is so pretty. I love the "crinkly" look too!

  10. I'm counting the days for the last season of NCIS to come out on DVD. Soon....very soon. Your quilt is absolutely beautiful Kathy!!!! Love the colors. Still no rain here. Lawn is green in the back...we have a sprinkler system in the back. The front yard is another story...drying up, but we water it once a week [we have water rations now, so can't do much else].

If you find a Five Guys...enjoy. I'll be tasting it with you two. LOL

Love it, I tell you, love it-you've done such an awesome job; I think you should tutor me.
Hope you have a great evening Kathy.

  14. Hi Kathy, I have one more question for you-since I've been sitting quilting for a good part of the day....how many hours does it take you to quilt the size of quilt you showed us. I think I put at least 40 hours in one baby size quilt, of course it is on and off again. Have a great Monday.
