Friday Fragments

Mommy's Idea

Hard to believe that here we are at the end of another week … but that means that it’s time for some fragments.

Yesterday was a busy but productive day.  I spent some time in the sewing room … I have sewn together 85 of these together into 5 rows of 17 (not all of them yesterday).

I’m getting used to not having any counters … instead of opening drawers, I just reach in from the top and grab whatever utensil I need.  I’ll have to get used to opening drawers again when the counters are installed.  Winking smile

We’re starting to check out the Weather Channel’s Hurricane Central daily as we’re getting closer to our trip to the Outer Banks.  Hurricane Irene forced us to cancel our mid-September trip to the OBX last year, and we’re hoping that we won’t have to make any last-minute changes this year.

My washer’s spin cycle has been making a funny noise the last several times I’ve done laundry … the washer is only 4 years old, so it shouldn’t be breaking down yet.  I don’t know if it would be better to have someone come out and look at it now – preventive care – rather than waiting until it breaks down completely?

Today should be a fairly quiet day … one I’ll relish with a busy weekend coming up.

  1. That sucks about the washer. Is it still under any kind of warranty. Google the problem and maybe there is a solution. Ya never know. I'd call a repair man first and see how much it would cost to fix it before you buy a new one. It may be a simple problem.

  2. Sure hope the weather cooperates so that you can head to N.C.! I think I'd go ahead and give a repair man a call. Maybe it's not as bad as you think. Enjoy your weekend, Kathy!

All major appliances are not made to last anymore!

  4. Kathy, Whatever you take to have so much energy sewing, can you please send me some?! You amaze me and inspire me-you get so much accomplished. I am hoping I don't have anything wrong with my left eye as I got some weird lines going through it and also some "floaties"-as long as it doesn't disrupt my vision for stitching I'll be fine.
Sorry about your washer and I would have it checked out, just to make sure it isn't any major problem. Have a wonderful weekend; once I finish getting caught up with blogs, I'm off to stitch.
    Hugs, Noreen

  7. My sister who lives in Marco Island, FL has postponed her return home from the midwest while she waits out Isaac.

Lucky me - - - that gives her time to come up here for a visit!!

  8. Wow, you have been so busy. LOL at the counters missing and you just reaching into the drawers. Praying the hurricane stays away. Have to tell you that that happened to our washer. We had a $600. repair on a 5 years old washer!

  9. I always enjoy quiet days. Oh, washing machines! I can get by without a dryer but a washing machine is something that is so important to my well being. I could be something simple too.
    Your blocks look so nice.
Have a lovely weekend and I hope the hurricane goes far away. When I was watching the weather they didn't seem real sure of the path yet. The high pressure at Four Corners could cause it to go a different direction. Can you tell I am a weather junkie?

  12. Don't worry about your trip. We here on the Atlantic coast are forbidding any hurricanes. :) Don't talk about washers breaking down---I've been having this feeling lately about mine...fingers crossed...

  13. I don't know if you will have problems with the hurricane there, but it's headed our way. I do NOT like hurricanes. I've lived here my whole life and I'll never ever get nonchalant about them. I dread it and just heard to pressure is dropping which means it's getting stronger. Oh, dear!
