Hoooray! It’s Friday! The weekend is here! And even though I’ve been retired for 4 years now, I still find myself looking forward to the weekends.
For those of you keeping score at home, we didn’t get out to celebrate DH’s birthday at his favorite restaurant on The Hill yesterday. I forgot that he had a dental appointment yesterday. We can’t go today because we’ll have at least 1 grand here, maybe 2. Mama and Daddy are taking the 2 bigger Ts to see Wrecking Ralph today (they might take T#3 … it was undecided as of last night). So guess who gets to watch the littles!! We’re going to try to go tomorrow … wish us luck! ha!
We did get our Thanksgiving shopping done yesterday. DH is our shopper, so he stopped at the store on the way home from his dental appointment. I gave him a nice detailed list, even grouped it together by aisle. On the list was a 20 lb. turkey, but I gave him some insight on what to do if he couldn’t find a 20 lb. turkey. I explicitly told him not to buy one bigger than 21.5 lbs. (we’re going to roast our turkey in an electric roasting pan … and our pan will not hold a 22+ lb. turkey). So what does he do but bring home a 22.5 lb. turkey. Poor DH … but he was a good sport about it and went back to the store to swap the turkey for a 19.5 lb. one. “Tom” is now thawing in our spare refrigerator (out in the garage).
We’ve got some nice weather in the forecast … highs in the upper 50’s … with a high of 61 on Thanksgiving.
Today I’m thankful for:
- My patient hubby who is a good sport about having to postpone his birthday dinner … and about having to swap out the turkey
- Unseasonably nice weather for the week leading up to Thanksgiving
- Time with my Ts
- Time with needle and thread
- Movie night with my hubby (even if it’s a movie we’d seen before … neither one of us could remember how it ended, so it was like seeing a new movie)
Enjoy your weekend and all your plans. Sounds like you will be nice and busy.
ReplyDeleteThat was sure sweet of your husband! Sandie
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good and busy week. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! Soo sounds like me, haha...My hubby does all the grocery shopping usually which is both wonderful but hard. It is difficult sometimes to explain what I want and it is usually has a reason, just like yours with the size of the turkey, lol. My hubby brings his phone and usually calls me from the store as he walks some of the aisles telling me what they have etc. What wonderful guys we have huh? Enjoy your week-end! HUGS
ReplyDeleteMaybe your hubby was thinking the bigger the better? Sounds like something my husband would do too :)
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed this weekend is THE weekend for the Bday dinner :)
I'm also keeping fingers crossed that the weather holds out for a nice Thanksgiving. That's perfect Black Friday shopping weather too :)
Have a wonderful weekend. I hope you and DH finally get to celebrate his birthday.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sometimes delayed plans end up being the best! Hoping your hubby's b.d. dinner will be perfect in every way. Laughed when I read about his buying too big of a turkey-how sweet that he did the shopping for you.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful, warm weekend.
Hugs, Noreen
No matter how detailed a grocery list is… at least one thing will come home a bit off, or may not come home at all. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
What a sweet guy! My turkey is 19 pounds but I keep wondering if I need a bigger one.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a really nice evening.
I always look forward to Fridays. Even when I worked, and if I was going to have to work the weekend, I still looked forward to Fridays.
Have a very nice weekend.
I like the comment about the movie, not remembering how it ended; too cute! I hope you enjoyed the movie night! LOL about your husband getting a slightly bigger bird than you asked for. I am sure you were very detailed on your list. It reminds me of years ago when I would ask hubby to go to the store to buy those products we need monthly when we are younger and I would specifically tell him brand, color of packaging, wording on package, etc., and he would always come hom with the wrong one. But I have to give him credit, at least he would buy them :)

Gee...it must be GREAT that DH does the grocery shopping! I get stuck with it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I send the husband to the store, I do the same thing---make a list and group all items by aisle. And he always has to go back because something wasn't quite right. But it's always good for a laugh! Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteJust like us with Mark's birthday we are not celebrating until Dec.
ReplyDelete2nd. I am shopping on Tuesday for our dinner. Hope your weekend went well.
What? These look like fragments; did you link up? I didn't land her by way of a link and just wondered...if you didn't link up, was it something I said?! (hope not!)
ReplyDeleteBusy lady! You'll have to find time later to go to hubby's fa orbited place for dinner! Isn't it nice to have patient husbands? That's really something to be thankful for!
