Catching up on thankfulness

I had a goal of posting every day with something for which I am thankful … but a weekend chock full of my Ts meant that blogging had to take a back seat to T-time!  Red heart  The little ones are the only Ts here this afternoon, so I can blog while they’re napping (although I probably could have used a nap myself  Winking smile).

This weekend I’m thankful for my precious Ts -

  • they teach me patience
  • they help keep me young ... I’m definitely not going to be the grandma who sits in the rocker while the little ones play at her feet … oh no, I’ll be down on the floor with them ... after all, how can I say “no” when they ask "Nana, will you play with me?"
  • they expand my heart ... having raised only one child, I was worried, when T#2 was born, whether I would be able to love her as much as I did T#1
  • they teach me patience
  • they provide motivation for my prayer times ... I have to confess that there are times when I feel like I’m too busy or too preoccupied to spend much time in prayer, but I remember that I need to be praying for my Ts … and I make the time for prayer
  • they teach me how to love unconditionally
  • have I said that they teach me patience? ha!

And I’m thankful for the four seasons.  I’m thankful for the beauty of the fall colors, of the respite between the hot summers and the cold winters.  I’m thankful for the Currier-and-Ives beauty of snow flakes falling … especially if they fall on Christmas.  I’m thankful for the reminder of new life with spring and its budding plants and beautiful flowers.  And I’m thankful for summer and shorts, flip flops and fresh veggies right from the garden.  While I wish that we could extend our springs and falls and shorten our winters and summers, I’m so thankful that we get all four seasons here in Illinois.

  1. Love the things you are thankful for. I discover the heart expansion when D2 was born. And D3. and D4. LOL It's amazing how the heart grows and accepts and makes room and more room. I'm also thankful for the seasons even though they aren't quite as noticeable here- I love all my memories of the changes during my childhood.

  2. Hi, I so remember(when my second girl was born)wondering if I could ever love her as much as I love #1. I will say that she has more of my heart now-not love, just we are more connected. You are such a wonderful nana. When we had all ten here on Friday night, they were so loud and crazy-but I am so thankful that we live close to each other; I'd be heartbroken if I couldn't watch them grow. I love autumn, spring and summer..did love winter until hubby started hating it, so it is hard to get enthusiastic for snow when it bothers his bones. Sending love your way.

  8. I like how the T's are teaching you patience :)

It is neat to have the changes of the seasons like you do; it helps kind of define the year rather than perpetual sun and mild temps. We never really know what season unless we look at the calendar.

  9. Other than your list of 'teachings [which I totally fathom] --- I like the reference to Currier and Ives scene that you put into my mind of the snowfall.
