Weekend Wrap-up–with a dash of thankfulness

Another weekend has come and gone … a busy, exhausting but wonderful weekend.

Friday morning I had my annual check up … no problems encountered.  Got my orders for my annual mammogram and routine bloodwork (Wednesday morning).  I got home from my doctor’s appointment just in time to head out for lunch with my neighbor.  She suggested lunch at a small Italian café in a historic neighborhood of St. Louis … DH and I had eaten there a couple of times, so I was thrilled with her choice.  I had a half order of seafood cannelloni … I’m wishing now that I’d ordered a whole order so I could have had leftovers.  Yum!

Saturday and Sunday was T-time!  We watched a couple of movies (Mars Needs Moms, The Incredibles), played (Legos, Super Heroes), went to church, and survived the time change (goodness knows that Nana needed an extra hour’s sleep Saturday night! Winking smile).  Yes, T-time is exhausting, but I LOVE it!  Red heart  Red heart  Red heart

Today I’m thankful for retirement.  I’m thankful that I don’t have to set the alarm clock, that I’m not spending my days in a basement cubicle, that I can control the thermostat Winking smile, that I’m able to set my own schedule, that I’m available whenever DD needs some help with the Ts or offers some T-time, that we can spend more time at the beach, and that I have time to do quilt or read.  I Red heart being retired.

They are wonderful, supportive peole who realy care about what we do here and yet, I want to be retired. Too bad I can't afford to stop. So I am thankful for a wonderful company to work for

  2. The weekends tend to come and go in a hurry, don't they?

I had my mammogram done last week. I'm always relieved to get that over with.

  4. Hi there, Loved hearing about your lunch with your friend. I too am so very thankful that I'm retired; I will even go so far as saying that I'm somewhat thankful that there is age discrimination here in Colorado-because I honestly tried to get a job over the last four years(lots of jobs actually)but because I had been retired they wouldn't hire me...even the local library. I have too much to do as it is now, can't imagine working. Happy Monday my friend.

  9. I go in January for my check up. Sounds like a very nice lunch. I like Mars Needs Moms. I like being home too with no set schedule. I can't wait for my husband to join me but thankful he has his job which allows me to stay home. Have a wonderful week.

  10. Sounds like a great weekend with the T's! I hope to retire one day, LOL, but who knows these days with the economy and whatnot. Glad you are able to enjoy those days to be "your own boss" so to speak!

  11. Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend. We had three of our grands over last weekend as well and this grandma also used that extra hour for a much needed nap.
