Sewing area update

I mentioned here that I spent a good chunk of my Saturday morning reorganizing the closet in the bedroom that's going to contain my sewing area.  I finally got the closet completely reorganized #:-S and all my sewing and quilting tools and supplies in their new homes (instead of old shoeboxes :-O).  And yes, there are still plenty room for the Ts' toys in that closet!  :x  Could I use even more storage?  Sure ... but at least the things that I use regularly will be handy.  The only thing I have yet to do is to put in a hook on the side of the bookcase to hang my quilting rulers.

We've ordered the TV stand; since it's a corner unit, we aren't 100% sure if/how it'll fit in the small corner I've got allocated for the TV.  But the store where we ordered it is willing to order it for us with no obligation on our part.  If it doesn't fit, we'll buy a similar stand, slightly smaller and put it in the corner and turn the TV a few degrees so I can see it while sewing.  Once we have the TV stand and can see how it fits in to the space available, we'll order my tables ... yes, I said tables.  My original plan was to have 2 tables ... one for my sewing machine and one for my cutting mat.  I never expected to be able to find 2 tables, let alone afford them.  But because the tables we've got our eyes on are unfinished, they're within our budget (at the top end of it, but within our budget nonetheless).  I can't wait ... but I've never claimed to be patient!  ha!  In the mean time, I'm using my old 60" folding table.  Yes, it looks odd in there by itself, but it works for the time being ... until I can get my TV stand and tables and get them stained/finished.

An added bonus to all this reorganization is that when I went downstairs to find my sewing and quilting supplies, there was enough room on our storage shelves to organize our jigsaw puzzles ... and I found a piece of Tinkerbell flannel to make a blankie for T#2, who has suddenly decided that she like "girly stuff".  I bought some flannel on Monday to make a couple of blankies for T#4.  And now I think it's time to "update" the blankies here at Nana's for T#1 and T#2 (who picked out some flannel on a trip one day several years back to Wal-Mart).  The new Tinkerbell blankie will work for T#2 ... I need to see what kind of flannel I can find online for T#1.    Time to go make that blankie!  :x

  1. Love organization!!! It all looks so great - be sure to post pictures of the finished product.

I have blankies for the grandbabies I keep at my house too - one of the best ideas I have ever come up with! They each have their own color and they look for them every time they come over.

  2. Hi there, So glad you got to organize your sewing room and are getting new tables. I used to have a folding 6' table and loved it but it was borrowed so I had to give it back. Hubby was supposed to build me a sewing unit but never did and they are just to expensive. Have fun making the quilts for your grands.
